My Fall Bucket List (And Yours Too)

The other day, I stood in the doorway with my coffee in hand, just…lingering. The air had that unmistakable crispness, like it had changed overnight. A leaf or two from the pecan trees out front fluttered across the driveway, and I swear I could almost hear them whispering “it’s time.”

Time for soup. Time for sweaters. Time for fall.

And every year, without fail, I get this little itch. Not the kind that makes you want to reorganize the garage (though…fair warning, that’s coming). It’s the good kind. The kind that makes you want to lean into the season and do all the tiny, nostalgic, wonderful things that make autumn feel like more than just cooler weather—it’s a whole vibe.

So of course, I made a list. And then I turned that list into a printable. Because let’s be honest—we’re all more likely to follow through if it’s on a cute printed list and we can check things off with a pen. I know us.

So, Why Make a Fall Bucket List?

Honestly? Because time moves fast. The seasons fly by. One minute it’s the Fourth of July, and the next you’re panic-buying a turkey. Having a bucket list is like gently reminding yourself to slow down and soak up the moments in between. To enjoy the little rituals that make you feel grounded, cozy, and a little more “in the season.”

This year’s list includes everything from the simple (light a fall candle) to the slightly more ambitious (get lost in a corn maze), but nothing is too complicated. It’s just a soft guide to a sweeter, slower autumn season and I can’t wait for all of it.

A Few of My Favorite Things

I’m already dreaming of:

  • Carving pumpkins on the patio and roasting the seeds with sea salt and cinnamon sugar.
  • Wearing fuzzy socks with a mug of apple cider (in my pumpkin mug), even if it’s still 95° here in Arizona.
  • Lighting a spice-smelling candle or two and pretending I live in Vermont.
  • Making a pot of pumpkin soup that no one else in my house will eat, but that I will love with reckless abandon.

A Few Little Reminders

If you don’t get through the whole list, that’s okay. Fall isn’t a competition—it’s a season. Skip the apple picking if you can’t swing it (or you don’t have apple trees anywhere nearby), or swap “scary movie” for something spooky-adjacent (I see you, Hocus Pocus fans) and if you need inspiration on that front, check out this post about Halloween-ish movies that aren’t super scary (but are full of fall feels).

But maybe do carve that pumpkin. Maybe do call that friend. Maybe do sit outside one evening with a blanket on your lap, just watching the sky turn pink while the world cools down.

Download the Printable

As I mentioned above, I made a sweet little fall bucket list printable for us. It’s simple, it’s cute, and it looks ever-so-charming stuck on the fridge with a pumpkin magnet. Print it out, check things off, and let it guide you through the coziest parts of the season. Or, if you’d prefer, you can make your own with the blank version. It’s completely your call—they’re both waiting for you.

Now, let’s make this fall season one to remember, what do you say?. Not in a big, flashy way—but in a “wow, that soup really hit the spot” kind of way. Happy fall, friends.
