My gosh, can you believe it’s already nearly the 4th of July? I love this time of year. There’s just something magical about summer holidays. Maybe it’s the fireworks, or the smell of burgers cooking on the grill, or just the simple joy of hanging out with family and friends in the warm summer sun. Whatever it is, it’s definitely time to get festive for the 4th of July, my friend.

Deck Out Your Space
First things first, let’s talk decor (because it’s my favorite). If you’re anything like me, you love an excuse to spruce up your home and the holidays (any of them) is a great time to do so.
I always start by decking out your front porch and/or the backyard. My favorite way to easily add patriotic charm is to hang some bunting flags or a few American flags around. And let’s not forget a cute wreath for the door. This year I did a whole bunch of bunting flags at our family cabin and I love how they came out!

Festive Foods
Now, let’s move on to the heart of any celebration: the food. Of course, the 4th of July is all about the grill, so plan on firing it up. Juicy burgers, crispy hot dogs, and maybe even some grilled corn on the cob to go with. But let’s not stop there. I love making a big, colorful fruit platter with strawberries, blueberries, and watermelon too. Not only does it look beautiful, but it’s also a refreshing treat on a hot day. And for dessert? You absolutely can’t go wrong with these fresh lemon brownies or tangy cherry cream cheese tarts. They just scream SUMMER!
All The DIY
If you have kiddos running around, keep them busy with some fun crafts. How about making some DIY sparklers? All you need are some pipe cleaners and beads. Twist the pipe cleaners into a star shape, thread on some beads, and voilà! Instant fun. Another favorite of ours is making red, white, and blue tie-dye shirts. Not only are these fun to make, but you also end up with an OOTD (outfit of the day)!
Games and Activities
In our house, this is a big one. We LOVE our classic outdoor games. Cornhole, giant Jenga, and water balloon tosses are always a huge hit over here. If you’re feeling adventurous, set up a slip and slide (yeah I’m taking it waaaay back). Nothing says summer fun like a good slip and slide.
And when the sun starts to set, obviously, it’s time for those fireworks. Whether you’re heading out to watch a professional display or just lighting a few sparklers in your backyard (like us), it’s the perfect way to end the day.
And if you’re feeling more chill? Turn on a few outdoor party lights or lanterns instead. It’s makes a cozy summer atmosphere.
Capture the Moments
Last but not least, make sure to capture these memories, my friend. Take lots of photos and videos, but also try take a moment to just be present and soak it all in (mostly talking to myself here, I struggle). These are the moments we’ll look back on and cherish.
Getting festive for the 4th of July is all about embracing the joy of the season, spending time with loved ones, and of course, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Happy 4th of July—stay safe, have fun, and make it a day to remember.
