Since we’re all new here, I thought I’d do some quick introductions. Meet Mad! She’s our oldest. Her full name is Madilynn, but we’ve called her Mad, since she was about yay-high. My dad, bless his heart, was never fond of this nickname because he always thought it sounded negative, but it stuck anyway! Sorry, Dad.
Mad is our special girl. Literally, she has special needs. The first few years of her life were full of doctors, and tests, and more doctors. It was…not like we had planned. But, I suppose nothing in life goes exactly the way you plan now does it?
Let’s see, if I were to sum up Mad in a few sentences, I’d say that she is almost always happy, is incredibly easygoing, and aims to please. If you need someone to just hang with, she’s your girl. She’s low maintenance. She loves music and dogs. She also likes to tell really bad jokes and most of the time, she laughs harder at her own jokes than we do. It’s precious, really. She loves spaghetti and cheese pizza, but she doesn’t like cheese (?). She eats as much food as a teenage boy and we’re pretty sure she has a hollow leg (or two). She’s quirky (like her mama), and random, and is a total joy.
She truly is a bright star in our lives.
Do you have a child with a disability? Feel free to contact me or ask questions, I’m always open to share our experience.
Meet Hannah too!
First time I met Mad was at Larry loughhead’s memorial service. What a delight! She has grown into a beautiful young woman–a true gift.
Christine, I remember that! Gosh, that seems like 100 years ago doesn’t it? I’m so glad you’re following along with us!
