Kristine Does Whole30

I'm starting my Whole30 journey. I'll be sharing my experience and my favorite recipes!Okay, so I’m sure you’ve heard about, read about, or known someone who has tackled the Whole30 challenge right? Well, in January (when I was feeling super motivated by the new year) I bought the book. I was doing it. Was. However, I talked myself right out of it after reading the first few pages.

No legumes. No dairy. No grains. No alcohol. No sugar! What the…?  Who on earth can do that? More importantly, who would want to? No thankya, I’m out. nope. No way jose.

And that was that. I hid the book safely in a closet never to be seen, or thought about again. ever! Until, one of my dearest friends, Cynthia made me rethink that decision. She struggles with chronic illness and ‘gut troubles’ and her doctor recommended she give Whole30 a try.

I am fortunate and do not suffer from…anything, But what do I do? What any real BFF would of course, and offer to take this journey with her. ‘We’ll do this together’ I say. ‘We can do this!’

(Wait just a second! what have i done?)

…And so my journey begins. Tomorrow I will say goodbye to legumes (won’t really miss those), dairy, grains, alcohol, and sugar (all of these I will miss terribly) for 30 whole (haha) days.

I’m not going to lie, I’m feeling a little traumatized by this decision already, but I also feel it’s going to be really beneficial and I’m sorta excited. I’ll try to share my honest opinions, experience, and maybe even a few recipes here on the blog. And hey, it’ll give me something to write about (since I’ve been in a dry spell lately, sorry guys – I still love you!).

iI was thinking about binge eating some hot tamales, donut holes, chocolate chip cookies, and pizza tonight, but I read that the more you binge the harder the first few days are. Guess I won’t. Point made Whole30. I’ll say goodbye to all of my favorites without even one last taste. Sad.

Here i go…

I finished my first whole30 a couple of weeks ago, slowly reintroducing but I’m in no hurry! I’m going to carry on eating whole30 as much as I can.
