You may not know this about me, but I grew up in the beautiful state of Colorado. Yep, I’m a mountain girl through and through! I love everything about being in the mountains; the scenery, the weather, the sound of the wind through the trees, all of it. Luckily Jay and the girls do too, so we try to escape to the mountains as a family at least once every summer.

A mountain getaway and short film by Kristine Underwood.Last weekend we packed our bags and the car and headed up to Forest Lakes where we rented a little cabin for the weekend. I couldn’t wait to get out of town! Forest Lakes is only about a 2 hour drive from where we live, so it didn’t take us long to get there. It’s crazy to think you can go from 110 degrees in the desert to 87 degrees in the mountains in under 2 hours, but here in Arizona you can!

Once we made it to the cabin and unpacked a little, we did a whole lot of relaxing. It was so calm and quiet; I was in heaven. There was this quaint little fishing pond about a 10 minute walk down the road (but we drove, haha), so the boys did a fair amount of fishing. They even brought home a few rainbow trout for dinner Saturday night.  I passed…

The evenings were chilly and the days breezy, a perfect mountain escape.

The weekend went by much quicker than we wanted it to, but we enjoyed every second of it and got to spend some quality time as a fam. And then on Sunday morning we packed up and headed back home, back to the 118 degree temperatures of Phoenix.

Of course, I was busy with my camera the whole time, snapping and recording away. I think I took even more video clips than I did photos this time! And since there was no wifi at the cabin (well, there was, but we sure couldn’t get it to work; though we tried like heck!), I literally rushed right home to make this film. No laundry, no unpacking, no nothing! I can’t beleive I’m saying this, but I might love films even more than photos!

Anyway, here’s the film about our mountain getaway. 🙂

See more posts from the in between!
