Why I took a little break from blogging and why it was exactly what I needed.
Sometimes the things we love become a chore; something we dread to do, but feel obligated to continue. Mundane, boring, and maybe even stressful. That became the case with me and blogging.
If you’ve followed my ‘blogging career’ you know that I’ve been blogging on and off since about 2009 and that I’ve had approximately 4 different blogs over that timespan. This one though, this is the one I love. It is all me. Be that as it may, I woke up one morning and felt uninspired and frustrated by it. I had lost my voice. I was cranking out content and new recipes, but I wasn’t in it anymore. And that made me sad.
So, I decided it was time to step away from the blog, you guys. As much as I didn’t want to, I needed to. I needed to take some time for myself and really think about this blogging thing. I didn’t make it a big huge deal; I just set my social media schedulers to run for at least 3 months on their own and quietly slipped away from the blogosphere for a while. Maybe you didn’t even notice (and if so, then yay, maybe I am okay at this!).
While I was away, I put some serious work into my photography business and even enrolled in a course to learn to make videos and short films. I’ve been wanting to do this forever, but never could find the time. And just like that, my inspiration, my passion, and my love for blogging (and photography) began to return.
I also discovered that eating all the delicious sweets and cookies I’d been making added a few extra inches that I didn’t really love, which also made me kinda unhappy, so I took some time to get back on track with more wholesome nutrition and even went back to a fitness regimen (you can read my fitness journey here!).
So after a few months of away time, I realized I still love blogging and that I’ve really missed it. I want to continue! So, I’m happy to announce that I’m back! I’ll be doing everything I used to do (and yep, that means cookies and crochet) as well as a whole bunch of new things; I hope you’ll stick around!
And hey, while we are chatting, if there’s anything you want to see more of, leave me a comment below – I’ll try to answer them all. 🙂
