Hello friends and happy Monday, again! I am writing this post in between running around like a crazy woman this morning because we are headed off to Mexico for a week to-morrow and I am not ready!
As usual, the time has gotten away from me and it’s crunch time!
I don’t know how I’m not ready though; I’ve been packing for what seems like a week already and I’ve had ample time to prepare for this trip. But yet here I am stressing out, tearing through the house like the Tasmanian devil!
I thought it might be helpful to share a few of my travel organizing tips, so here are a few things I’ve done to make this slightly less crazy so far:
- Establish travel central in the kitchen. I start this like a week prior to travel. I usually set it up in an unused corner on my counter. I gather essentials here and keep it all together. I have a basket that I toss things in as I purchase them, a chalkboard where I jot down notes and things I need to remember (or buy), and a folder where I keep important papers as they begin to accumulate (healthcare POA, insurance information, travel documents, etc).
- Use a checklist for things to do. This is a must for me, it helps me keep track of details and confirm everything right when I need to. Shuttles, flights, hotels, all of it. This checklist is located in travel central, of course. 🙂
- Have all the laundry done and clothing prepared several days ahead of time. And then try really hard not to wear said clothing before you get it packed (eh hem…Kristine).
- Pack outfits by the day and group them together. This saves me tremendously! I literally lay outfits all the way across my bedroom floor so I can keep track. And of course, I do tend to pack few extra because as Jay says, I’m an over-packer. Better to have extra than not enough though, am I right? Haha!
Since I won’t be around much this week, my to-do list is completely blog and vacation related!
Blog posts (2) – write and schedule coffee break and brunch posts. Write and schedule newsletter for Friday.(Oops, I forgot to do this last week; sorry y’all didn’t hear from me, I’ll make it up to you! If you’re not on the list and want to be, get signed up here!). Post raspberry frozen yogurt on Instagram. Plan out and begin Mexico vacation film. Finish packing(a must, for obvious reasons LOL). Complete meal plan for Mad for the week. Get mani/pedi(also a must, my toes are something awful right now!).
And now, it’s time for me to get cracking on this list! Remember, it’s Monday you guys – time to sparkle and shine! Make it a good one! Read the whole coffee break series here!
