With all this healthy eating and whole30 going on over here, we’ve been going through tons of ingredients and and tons of herbs.

I like to grow my own and always have some on-hand, but to be honest, my last few attempts have been a huge fail. Either they don’t get enough sun, or they get too much, or they’re so hard to move around they get neglected and die.

I’m a terrible herb-grower.

Easy DIY bucket herb garden. Stylish, practical, and portable! But then I got a great idea! a bucket herb garden. I need something portable and something, well, stylish! A galvanized bucket would be perfect! They come in several sizes and are available all over (I found mine at a local feed store). I just chose one that accommodated what I wanted to plant, medium size. I picked 3 of my favorite herbs and boom done! It was so quick and easy to put together.

Here’s what you need:

Step 2: Plant the herbs in the bucket, adding soil as needed to cover the roots completely and water in. Since there is no drainage hole at the bottom, be cautious and do not over-water.

You can easily transport it around to get the perfect amount of sunlight and then pop it back on the kitchen counter for easy access. Cute, functional, awesome! This is my new favorite way to grow herbs; it might be yours too!

  1. You and I must think a lot alike. I have been using metal pails for my herbs and tomato plants for years. I only have a balcony so these pails take little room and as my flat faces north, I can easily move them around with the handles.

    Great post!

    Cheers

    1. Oh my gosh! We must! 🙂 I never thought about planting tomatoes in one too; brilliant! I’m totally going to do that. Thank you so much for stopping by, have a wonderful day!

      1. I’ve found that the best tomatoes to grow in buckets are the mini varieties like Tiny Toms and Little Millions. My daughter in Edinburgh actually grows (along with other veggies and herbs) potatoes, carrots, and beets. The buckets are perfect because they are deep enough for these.
